Live problems? My Xbox 360 is now online and it works fine in the morning but at about 6:00PM it won't let me connect to Xbox live does this happen to anyone else or just me. It is Very Annoying

re: Live problems? Can't say I've seen that apart form when Xbox Live is under maintenance. What else heppens at 6pm? Do you start downloading things and filling your line up? IS someone stealing your wireless bandwidth?

re: Live problems? Sounds more like a general internet problem rather than a live one, i get it at home when i try to use the internet at peak times, think it is the DNS being overloaded and therefore really slow at finding pages. Nothing you can do really

re: Live problems? I have a 10mb line with NTL but i am havin trouble hostin games, ghost recon 3 is really bad and i strugle doin 8 players.... wat the f..k is goin on, PLZ HELP as xbox say its my isp but when i phone them they just say the same thing every time.... everything is fine at are end.

Login - root - root Click on 'downstream' downstream recieve power level should be between- 1 & -8 Downstream SNR should be no less than 26db Click on 'Upstream' Upstream transmit Level should be between 40 & 56dbmv If all these basic checks are ok ask your neighbours with ntl if they have had problems? if you have no joy book a call and insist you have a tec visit,it could be a poor install or a network problem? Hi all - I recently had the red ring of death with my 360 & after alot of lengthy phone calls, lots of hassle & people passing the buck i luckily got my machine replaced with a brand new one.(i understand many other people have had silimar probs too) I neverly said @sod it@ & was gonna by a PS3 but i stuck with it. But now its given me a really big problem. My old machine connected to Xbox live perfectly with hardly any problems. But now i have a connection problem with my new Xbox 360. When it goes through the tests to connect to Xbox live, it gets through the wireless connection USB, then connects to my network but when it gets to IP address & comes up failed. I have set the correct IP details as it was on my old machine & setings in the options but no go. I have tried looking on forums but nothing found yet. Can anyone help as its driving me nuts. My online mates have been enjoying their games & i have been ofline now for about 5 months. PLEASE can anyone helpppppppp !!!!! Ps. Xbox support have been no use

re: Live problems? I am trying to resist buying a PS3 as i know that the 360 is a much better console but i have been told that i will have better experience online with it. Anybody know anything about the PS3 online. By the way, my wireless router is a Draytek Vigor 2600we if this helps. I know you Xbox guys will come thru for me !!!!!!!!!! As everyone on Xbox live are the dogs.

re: Live problems? Yeah, xbox live just doesn't wanna work for me now. It just cut out.. BAM! (just like that!) I run through the connectivity tests, and it passes everything except the "xbox live" test. There are no answers for this on the xbox website, and there is no technical support available at such a late hour. I've been without it for a few hours now, and it's just annoying It's probably that they are doing maintenance on a server, or something, and it's causing area-problems.

re: Live problems? why when i try to connect to xbox live on my 360 it goes threw the connection test and at first it would say ip address faild.. so i figured out that the antenna i have for my wireless linksys card that my ethernet cord was pluged into was one bar blue n other bar red so i move it in a diff direction n both bars turn blue it workd perfect.. 3 housr later i go to play halo 3 and it says the DNS faild.. can some one please help me!!

re: Live problems? Bobby, I have the same problem with my xbox. I pass all the tests but only "xbox LIVE" fails. I know my gold subscription doesn't run out until mid '08. Maybe xbox LIVE is down or something? For some reason I think posting this help comment is pointless because I've read most of these comments and none of them have been replied...

re: Live problems? I'm a major BF:2MD player for the xbox and recently i haven't been able to receive friend or clan invites. Also, when I send friend invites, no one receives it although the server says I sent the invite. I know people are sending me invites because they tell me in game. What is the problem?

re: Live problems? My XBOX 360 Live won't connect. I have ran the tests it says everything is working, even my ISP, and the other tests say they are working fine too, so when i sign in, it says that i cannot connect, some sort of error. Help? Its annoying to hell.

re: Live problems? with virgin... since nov 21st not been able to game online. live crashes or freezes the 360 and I need to switch it off to get control back. Voice chats also either freeze the 360 at the dashboard (or when connecting) and if I do connect, the other person hears me but all I get is the sound of a 'shark attack' on the other side :( Moving from virgin. Hope this cures it?!

re: Live problems? Yep, same problem with Virgin here. Xbox live was working fine up until the 21st Nov. Can only get xbox live working to a satisfactory level in the early hours of the morning.

Hi i have an xbox 360 and i try and connect ive enterd my ip and subnet maskway etc manually and looked on my comp for my DNS it says 3 different options for my DNS and ive tryed a combo of all three as the primary and it did not work then i saw on a blog that someone had enterd there DNS as there ip address but differrnt on the end i tryed that and still failed ive been trying on and off for over a YEAR!!! and really need some help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! re: Live problems? cool at least i aint the only one who just experienced this, i was playin cod4 and it just got cut off, i tested the connection and everythin passed except the xbox live itself with as you said ryan, no info at all in the box. its why i came online now to see if my internet was ok. hopefully be ok by the morning i never had any probs with live up to now

I have a connection, i can sighn in with my gamertag and I am connected to Xbox live and I went to play Gears Of War when it comes up "Check your family settings to allow multiplayer gaming. re: Live problems? I think on 28th there is a problem with Live. I turn My 360 on main menu loads grey Xbox logo with lights spinning appears for a few mins then goes. Notification window at bottom says i am connected to live and says how many friends online but xbox dashboard says that i am not online and is asking me to connect. start a game and everything looks ok. Load Call Of Duty 4 and try to join an online game and get message "Notice : You must have an active network connection to play online or systemlink matches!" WTF it knows i am online and i can play online in a custom game with friends but it thinks i am offline???

I have tried to recover it but XBOX Live is having non of it!!! i phoned up and all i got was try tonight then tomorrow morning if it is not working phone again! he did mention that XBOX Live is up dating ATM!!! (very good of XBOX to let us know)

re: Live problems? Me too! I spoke with some dumb ass Support Engineer for 30 mins, which was dificult enough as she had trouble understanding me!!!! Then she tells me to delete my gamer profile and then recover it! I do this and it won't let me recover it! Then I say "Are there any issues with connecting to Live at the moment" She says "hold on" and then comes back 5 minutes later and says "Oooh yeah, sorry there are". So now I can't even play a bloody offline game as I can't access my saves until I recover my gamer profile! Microsoft sure do employ some idiots!

Live problem. Hm. My problem: I turn on my Xbox, Sign into my LIVE account, it shows the loading screen, then the amount of friends I have. Then, the screen acts as if I'm not online at all, because theres a button that says 'connect to live', after it's already shown my friends. I try connecting to live from the button shown, and the same problem reoccurs.

re: Live problems? Not much new to add apart from the problem is still resident. Best thing to do with Microsoft support is request they escalate, not once, but twice. This will get you to N.A. support apart from India.

re: Live problems? my live has been playing up after christmas so much eg when i turn the xbox on the dashboard it won't load the marketplace and the games one i play COD4 quite regular and it won't let me get into matchs and when i do it chucks me bck out again. then when i manage 2 get on live 2 ask my friends about this i now no i'm not alone with this problem! please post if any 1 is having similar problems! re: Live problems? I've got the exact same problem. It says I sign in, I click the middle button and then it asks me to sign in, I sometimes do but then it signs me right back out again :S Hopefully it's sorted soon, we pay the money! Dan :D

Yea, I've been having the same problems as most of you, COD4 says you must have an active connection to play, and I can manage to play some games but then right when I'm done it says the game lobby is closed. The best way to get into games is to join sessions in progress from your list of recent players. This is really frustrating and I called xbox customer support twice now hoping to find someone who knows what they are talking about, but no luck so far.

re: Live problems? I think it's true what Like says. There has been a massive worldwide increase in xbox live users over the last few days so it's bound have some bad effect on the servers. Even before that at weekends and evenings I was getting kicked etc when it's busier. They need to update the servers! Like has been said we are paying for it!!!

re: Live problems? Well, it looks like I have found a forum with the same problem as me. I have been unable to sign in to xbox live at night and it is very frustrating. I work all day, the kids have the TV during the day and early evening and when I get to play, I cannot connect to the damn xbox live server. So much for my first payed month on xbox live.

re: Live problems? All The XBOX LIVE connection problems have been happening since Christmas Eve after they did an update on the servers. I have called their Tec support several times including today, they have no resolution date. Symptoms: 1) fails to connect to XBOX LIVE, 2) connects but experience problems with matchmaking, searches for players for long periods of time, keeps re setting matchmaking games once it has found players. All intermittent.

re: Live problems? If anyone says there isnt a problem with xbox live, they don't use the internet that much or use xbox live between 6pm and 4am. There is a problem with xbox live and microsoft wont admit to it. Read more (non-microsoft) forums and you will notice a growing trend. Microsoft dont want you to know there is a problem but dont want to put themselve in a position where they have to admit to ignoring a problem, so they have aloud one forum that mentions the problems, and I still had to route for this one forum.

re: Live problems? XBOX LIVE has been reported as getting better. Experience in from United Kingdom is the opposite. XBOX Live is currently unusable as even if you actually get to join an online game (COD4) you get kicked off before you can play it. How about some kind of update direct to the dashboard so at least we'd know about the problem. MS customer service leaves a lot to be desired

re: Live problems? I've heard that all the problems are because of the Microsoft servers cannot handle the volume of people trying to play at the same time. Also heard that they are currently upgrading/getting new servers so it can handle the volume of people playing at the same time. Not sure how true that is though!

re: Live problems? Date - 09/01/08 - I have tried upgrading my broadband and still the COD4 is poor and never connects. It is ok during the day but after 9pm it all goes wrong. Basically when non-Europe gets online it all goes wrong. Why oh why does XBox live not have region servers where we can just join a Europe Group, or UK Group, a seperate US Group and Asia Groups for Xbox live as well as keeper the ability to play everyone! I don't see why I should pay roughly £40/year for something that never works.

re: Live problems? i'm in the uk and i've been on xbox live now playing halo 2 & 3 for over two years now and there has never been any problems with it except for a little lag now and again...that was until around 12 days ago. now it seems almost every matchmade game I play (when I can get one which ain't often at certain times of day/night) there is people lagging in and out constantly. I can't join friends on my list and they have major problems trying to join me. Now the only reason I can think of for this hassle right now is that there is sooo many new users on xbox live right now with it just being after xmas. microsoft should have foreseen these problems and adjusted their servers to cope with all the new traffic. We all deserve some type of refund....I say 5000 microsoft points each would be a nice gesture for now >;-)

I know it sounds a bit stupid but with the bad press it can work and microsoft has been on their before, so maybe if we all write in with complaints they will take it up its got to be worth a try. Nothing much to it its straight forward and the xbox 360 has been on the show before with its hardware problems (which it did not have lol) so i am sure they will love some more bad press, and dont forget you are paying for the service. I hope this helps and dont worry about craming loads of info in just give them the basics.

re: Live problems? firstly i'd like to let everyone know how i solved a problem with my sons xbox360 not being able to connect to xbox live, everything was fine with our cable modem and his xbox live account as he had 3 months left on it, and my other son was running off the same router. i phoned xbox live and they didnt know how to solve it, what i did was look at the ip address that my xbox was given allong with all the other data given me on metwork test, then on my ip setting i manually entered another ip address only changing the finally setting by one digit, i ran a test and it worked, yet my nat was now strict, so i went back in and turned the setting back to automatic and allowed the console to retrieve the ip address it did this and did a network test and everything was fine and nat was now open, had no problems since. the other issue is with mine and my brothers xbox360 we cant seem to chat or join each others games everything has been working fine until the other day, where now we just cant do anything, we can send messages but cannot chat or invite each other to games,yet we can play together if somebody else hosts...any ideas??????????

re: Live problems? so my problem goes beyond all the repeated questions in this thread. i have been a customer of xbox live's service now for years. i got my 360 elite last september and its been fine up until now. my xbox live works in the dashboard, but whenever i put a game in it, it tells me to download an update to continue playing online. i start the download, then after a few minutes of no progress it says that i cant connect to live and to test my settings. repeatedly this happens and i got to the network blade in the dashboard and test my xboxlive connection. what do you know, i can connect. its been like this now for 3 days. can anyone help me?

Xbox Live Problem Hi I really need help with my Xbox Live problem. I have my Xbox 360 and my BT Home Hub in seperate rooms so i have a wireless adapter on my 360. When i test the connection everything's great. There is full signal strength and it can find all the required things (eg IP). Anyway I then try to play a game online and the connection keeps getting interrupted. On Halo 3 i might suddenly 'jump' halfway across the map or on COD4 i get the 'connection interupted' message every 10 seconds. I dont know what to do because the test on the 360 always says that it is working correctly. PLEASE HELP!

Ip adress DNS problems solved If yours says Dns or IP adress fails this is what you do : 1.click start 2.Control panel 3.network connections 4.on you dial up broadband right click and click status then propoties. This is when it should work, once your on the propoties a box comes up and on the top it say advanced then you tick all the boxes. now you then test your network settings. But if your is like mine it will disconnct you on a few games (not all the time) but thats about your NAT HOPE THAT HELPS My problem is that my screen all of a sudden goes blank and i cant see a thing and its not my tv.

re: Live problems? my gamertag was gone when i got my xbox returned from repair centre created my windows live id in dec 2003 and linked it to my gamertag the email i used at the time was my then primary email, it being 5 years later i have changed ISP twice so no longer have the password for that email windows live have been totally unhelpfull and won't even refund my live membership or microsoft points NB always take your hardisk off before returning your xbox or you'll end up like me the cutsomer service has been as bad as it gets complete nightmare!!

re: Live problems? Everyone is having the same problems, my mates included. Looks like we'll have to suck it and see. Should be fixed soon (I hope). 5 mins of a laggy COD4 before you get disconnected isn't good!

re: Live problems? When it starts to sign in to xbox live the whole console freezes, but if i unplug the internet connection it then works. Any assistence would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Ashley

re: Live problems my xbox live account ran out and it wont let me bak on to put money on the account. itwill come upto the screen where it says connect to xbox live and then a box comes up and it says update and i do and it signs me out. if any1 can help, cheers

re: Live problems? Hello, I have a problem which i am at a loss with and would appreciate some advice. I can play fifa 09 fine against any player, however when i try to play a friend i can't get it to work. I get an error after a couple of seconds saying the session is no longer available. This happens when i invite him and vice versa. We have been able to play other games okay in the past such as gta etc.. I am wondering if i need to change something on my modem? Any help here would be appreciated.

I am having problems because my 360 lets me log onto xbox live when i first turn it on but then after about 5 minutes it says disconnected from xbox live and when i test the connection it says, cannot negotiate lease with dhcp server. I have tried bridging my connection with my laptop but that does not work for me either. anyone have suggestions?

re: Live problems? I can sign onto live perfectly fine but after about 10 minutes or so it disconnects me. It is really annoying as on ranked matches it does not keep your experience you gained in the match because it disconnects just before the end!

re: Live problems? I have almost the same problem. I turn on my 360 and auto sign in signs me in, then I load up whatever game I have in. I get to the game menu and my 360 slows down a lot i mean a lot. Then I either load up campaign or multiplayer or whatever, or neither if it is to slow and I just try and wait it out. Then in game or at the main menu or basically anywhere about five or ten minutes after I turn on my xbox it loses connection and says that I disconnected from xbox live. help?

re: Live problems? had my xbox for 2 years now and all that time i've had live problems i'd have 2 try 2 find a game have it say u must b signed into live to play so i go back 2 dashboard and press connect 2 live although i've never been told i disconected then i can play online. but theres more, i'll have to keep playing until a message comes up saying i'm disconected then i can play with friends. but its got worse since the NXE came out i keep disconecting more and more at rndom times and my xbox freezes. this is gettin really irritating, and i'm tempted to give it all up and buy a ps3. please can some 1 help.

re: Live problems? When I try to play nhl 09 online it says "you must be signed into xbox live and the ea game servers to access the online features of this game". I know i'm signed into live because I can still chat with my friends, and they can all get into hockey, so its not like the whole game has crashed. I can play all my other games, just not this one. re: Live problems? I have been having a problem with staying connected on Xbox Live. I usually get diconnected every 10-20 minutes or so, while I am in the dashboard, playing CoD: WaW, Gears 2, or even Left 4 Dead. I have checked both with Customer support for my isp and live, but I seem to be getting nowhere. By the way my router/modem is a Westell Versalink 327W. I would greatly appriciate the help, this has been going on since the new update.

re: Live problems? Everything was working fine until the new update to the dashboard. Since then i cant join games in lobby's, GOW2 won't find players and if i do manage to get online with L4Dead the lag is terrible. My internet is working fine, the signal on my xbox is strongest it can be, noone is stealing my signal as i live in a field and to top it all off my xbox has started freezing when i load it up...HELP!!!
