hi guys, haven't been on here in ages! i was wondering if anyone knew whats going on with my 360 cause i haven't been able to access live for quite some time now. it says my MTU isn't working so i went onto my router and changed it to the recommended number and i saved the settings. then i tested my connection on the 360 and it passed the MTU but then failed the xbox live one (you know, second to bottom on the test screen bit). so anyways i tried testing it again and then MTU failed again x_X so i can get the MTU to work if i connect as soon as i save settings on the router but if i leave it for longer than 5 mins it fails again... stupid 360... i never had this problem before, i've been on live since december with the same router and everything, also my router is one of the recommended ones on xbox.com... i really can't figure out whats wrong... =(

It's because of the angle of your xbox on it's surface by the sounds of things. Going by your detailed description of the problem.
I have dsl and a ethernet cable and acount for xbox live and when i hook it up and get to the xbox live dashboard it says it cant connect to xbox live. IT says theres no ip address or something like that and my cable are all connected what do i do??

i had the same kind of problem and what worked for me was turn it all off, the router, broadband box, and your xbox. turn on the broadband and leave it for about 5 mins then turn on your router and leave that for 5 mins. turn on your 360 and hopefully that should work.

On my tests xbox live is failing!
When i try to connect it fails so i go on the tests and it says my xbox live isnt working my live account is still valid but ive changed my xbox around with my brother and the adapter does that affect it at all?? PLEASE HELP!!!

sorted the mtu out and it is confirmed every time i do test but when it gets down to the xbox live bit of the test that fails

dont know if my problems similar to this but i can connect to xbox live (see all my friends/messages etc.) but when i try and join a game online i usually cant connect (about 99% of the time) ive had the same router for a year and ive not had any problems with it always lets me play.
ive tried testing the live connection (on the dashboard settings) and it says everythings working
any advice would be very appriciated

my belkin wireless g router aint workin right when i first tried i hadnt set up router properly and it updated my 360 but it was too late at night to make a gt n stuff so i tried usin easy install wizard and i had done everything it said but except it wasnt workin any1 know and at 1 point it asken for a 3 letter thing then it asked for a password n stuff i am totally bamboozled plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help im soo desparate to get xbl im tearing my hair out all my friends got it now and they rubbin in my face when i was first to attempt to get it and ive spent £130 i am sooo angry

your settings on your router are not right find your manual or the router ip adress and change your mtu to 1500 ok.

xbox cant work below 1300 you need to get inside yout router and change your mtu settings if thisis possible then youneed to do this 1.get your ethenet cable connet it to your computer then connect it to your router.2 then start up your internet web page at the top http type 198.163.0.01 to go to router then it will ask for password. 3 admin admin is usually the password.4. goto settings and you will see mtu 1300 1400 1500.... if it is lower than 1300 change it to 1500 then savesettings it will work.

I have the same problem! ive changed the MTU number and gone through the microsoft troubleshooting pages and nothing seems to work! i dnt know if its something to do with microsoft because my mates get on it fine! im stuck for ideas now and really want to go on live!

hi everyone who has problems with their x box live connections ,the reason why no can sign on is x box live is the server has shut down for maintence for 24 hours,it it for the new dashboard which will be available later on in the year try tomorrow after 8 am then should be back online

Ya MTU failing here and it worked fine up until early this morning. I know Live is down but I don't get it... If it were a problem with the XBox Live, shouldn't the test pass your MTU and fail the XbOx Live part? They should really fix that.

I live in a dorm and have already registered my mac address with the it department and when i test my connection it passes everything execpt for the xbox live section. I have tried putting in the same information as my computer but it still wont work. I have a direct connection to the wall as we are not allowed to have routers. Does anyone have any advice.
