Lost my Gamertag Aw crap. Just tried to get back onto Football Manager after a 3 hour break.... and my GamerTag has completely disappeared. I officially have a corrupt GamerTag. So, looks like I need to recover my profile... and lose all of my game saves. So that's: - Half a season with the mighty Dundee United - 50 hours of Oblivion - A few levels of the slightly crappy Far Cry - A number of character completes in DOA4 - About 5 hours of Burnout - And a number of completes on other games The Oblivion is the real killer. 50 hours gone, never to return. Unless one of you know a solution I don't know?!!?

re: Lost my Gamertag Yep - pretty much instantly, with nothing lost. I just deleted the corrupt profile, but it gives you the option then to keep all saves etc. Then you simply select recover gamertag, and in 5 minutes, all is well again. Thank the maker.

re: Lost my Gamertag One day i logged out of a game like always, held the Guide button in and turned off my 360. The next day i turn it on and Curropt Profile. After being angry forever i decided to do the recovery process. When i did i kept getting an error about not enough memory. I have the 12gb (or 14gb) hard-drive and only had about 5gb left. FFXI and tons of music saved to it. So first i delete all the music, still not enough, then all the games i don't play anymore, still not enough. Next i move onto some arcade games i downloaded. FINALLY, i recovered my gamertag. Apparantly, you have to have a little bit more than half of your available memory to recover your profile. Luckily i can re-DL the arcade games i DL'd, but the music that took hours to rip to it is gone, and i'm not taking the time to do that again.

I put the disc of Rainbow Six Vegas into my console and when it was loading it came up with a dialogue box saying it cannot find the appropriate profile for previous saved games. so then i went to my dashboard and realised my profile had disappeared. i went to system, then memory, then to my HDD. i went to gamer profiles and saw that my profile was corrupt. ive had a luk at other peoples answers and ive deleted some demos and videos and now ive got just over 13GB of memory left. so i went to profile recovery, and entered my profile, email address and password but it said please make sure the devie is in properly or make sure there is enough space left on the device. please help! i dont want to lose my saved games!

re: Lost my Gamertag I had the same thing happen to me, I just deleted the corrupt file then, pulled my hard drive out, blew on it NES style then put it back in. Its worth a shot. my Gamertag got recovered hopefully yours does too!

So Im playing Far Cry and amazed at how crap it is compared to my new games.. I cant believe I played through the whole game once! Anyhoo, Im playing away and I get the message that I signed out of live.. How the hell did I do that? So, I go to my dashboard to see whats happening and whammo! Profile corrupt! After freaking out for half hour, I found this forum. Tried the "delete only profile" trick and am now downloading it again. Fingers crossed it all comes back with my saves working too, but its taking forever! Im still pooing my pants.

re: Lost my Gamertag You should give it a try. Try deleting the "Gamer Profile" and when it asks if you want to delete just the profile or profile+items (game saves, etc), select PROFILE ONLY. Then create a new profile with the same name. Maybe it will work, Im not too sure. I don't think there's any other way to recover it, if any.

I enter my information and then another gamer profile is created! With the same exact name... the offline profile has all my saved games and the Live profile is just empty.. Once reinstalled I tried to recover my gamertag but I kept getting the message "your windows live id is not associated w/ your gamertag" I called support and confirmed my windows live id hotmail accnt was correct. Somehow the two became it became delinked. I have been trying since mid June to recover my gammertag w/ no luck. I spoke to 9 supervisors and got 7 ref#'s w/ no results over the course of 3 months. Had a 14,000 point gamertag. All they will do is give a 1 yr membership. No answers from their reps...just a lot of broken english. Lost access to everthing forever! I haven't played Xbox in 3 months. Halo 3 is out today and I finally and just going to start over. F U Bill GAtes!

re: Lost my Gamertag So my gamertag decided to corrupt while saving a game of Eternal Sonata. Deleted the corrupt file and recovered my gamertag but my Eternal Sonata save completely vanished. I guess I'll just have to start all over. =[ But if you want your gamertag back your going to have to delete the corrupt file, profile ooonly, and then recover it using xbox live. If you don't have xbox live, I suggest you getting it.

Unable to recover gametag Hey all, not sure if this the correct place to mention this, but last night I was online playing call of duty 4, I got an invite from a friend to join his match. I accepted the invite and got booted, as I tried to get back on I got a message saying I needed to recover my gametag. I went through the steps for that, and I got a message after accepting the terms of service, it said that either my storage device or internet could not be detected. I checked both my internet connection, making sure my fire wall was open and I removed my hard drive and put it back on. And still I cannot connect to recover my gametag. I called MSFT three times (being disconnected once) and transfered to the xbox live support still I cant connect to get my game tag recovered...does this sound like a corrupt file to anyone or just a screwed up xbox? any help would be apprciated as msft cant seem to help me...

update on unable to recover post I figured I would write with the latest in case someone else is having the same issue, you'll be able to save numerous calls and hours on the phone and worries that it's your system. After having talked to many reps, I was connected to a supervisor, who was very helpful. She suggested making a new online gamertag, at frist I was a little skeptical only because of my progress with the other one, but in despiration to get back to the online gaming world at that point I said oh well I have nothing to lose and went along with it. So I made a new account from the website first: (then I had to go to my xbox and see if I was able to recover that, which did work) then in my xbox I had to create another one, with the knowledge that I would be able to after having recoverd the silver one I made on the net for my x-box. (granted i'm still in the 30 day free trial time of the gold membership, so i'm not sure how it would work if you've passed that already and have paid the yearly or monthly fee) anyway, I created the new one and told her that it worked fine and I was able to get back online, letting myself and them know it was not my system, it was on their end of the servers. So, in addition to helping me with that, the lady is attempting to recover my initial account, to their systems at the office and she said she's going to find out what happened and see if there is a way to recover it to my system, restoring my online status and whatnot, worst case scenario is that I lose my status and the items I unlocked in the game, (but if this happens to you, it's not your system). Keep in mind that this happened when I got hit with several game requests at the same time in call of duty 4 by different people. So if this happens to you, call x-box and speak to the support line that deals with the x-box live accounts, the people that deal with the console might tell you its on your ISP's end that's having the problem, so like I said, talk to the support people that deal with x-box live. At this point, from my understanding there is nothing you can do on your end, so dont be like me and spend hours messing with your system (deleting your saved profiles and everything) just create a new one (if your in the 30 day trial) to get you back online, and call MSFT x-box live support.... Hopefully this doesnt happen to anyone else, because it seriously wasted my entire Sunday and I got nothing done, now I just have to hope that msft can restore my old gamertag.... D

re: Lost my Gamertag Yea i cant sign in to xboxlive on my main gamertag, i made another and it was fine i signed in offline on my account and ran network tests, xbox live passed, i deleted it and then when i tried to recover it it stop and dissconects 3/4 the way through and gives me an error message about "your HDD may not be connected properly, or i dont have internet access" and this code 80150003:0. Both of which are bull s**t, i tryed it on another xbox and its their fault not mine. I phoned them and gave my details out and received a reference no#, and that they would phone back in 2days, well those 2 days have come and gone and no call, gonna try again tomorrow. re: Lost my Gamertag Anyone having profile corrupted profile issues when trying to play your profile on another 360. Here what I got, I have my profile on the hdd and memory card. Up until now I have had no problems with logging on another 360 with my profile. Now, my profile does not even show up to select it,either on the hdd or memory card. I can view it in the memory blade and it has corrupted profile next to it. I even tried to recover gamertag online on another 360 and it say my profile does not exist. But, on my 360 my profile works perfectly.I loaded my profile from my PC to a memory card and put it on the 2nd 360 and it worked fine,but when I put it on the 1st 360 it corrupts the profile once it is login. So that the profile only works on the 1st 360 and no other. It also does this with any profile that is loaded unto my 360. Xbox Live connection error: W: 0000-000B X: 0000- F001

re: Lost my Gamertag I went through the same problem for three weeks, talking to different CSM's. in the beginning I just wanted to be able to sign into xbox.com, however being unabled to I called xbox customer service. They told me to delete the profile, then recover it, well I had to recover it once before when my xbox went RROD on me. I thought no problem, now I'm wishing I never deleted that profile, even though apparently it's no longer associated with my windows live ID it can't be recovered, something to do with a new update that M$ had done to the servers. Let this be a lesson to us all if you have the same problem, don't delete the profile without making a copy first, as you will lose all gamer points, and be unable to access your game saves, oh sure they will still be on the hard drive and you can look at the pretty little avatar for them, however you will not be able to play them since the gamertag associated with them will been and forever be "CoRrUpt"ed.

It says in the recovery section that you can use recovery if you are at someone else's console. I kept trying to recover it but the Live thing didnt work. Finally it works after a few hours and I have my gamertag back, but with no saves. Just achievements and friends list. When I deleted my old one before trying to recover, I know I pressed profile only. I SHOULD STILL HAVE MY DAMN SAVES IN MY HARDDRIVE!! Think Microsoft will be able to help if I call them?

Saved Games are gone! I had the exact same issue that you guys had! I went to a friends house to play Rock Band, came back home and tried to recover my tag, but it said the signup servers were unavailable. I called xbox live support and they said the servers were doing maintenance. I deleted ONLY my profile, not the items with it. A few hours later I recovered my gamer tag and ALL my saved games were gone! I called them about it and they said I needed to get my hard drive replaced! I don't think this is a hard drive issue. I work in IT and I know what corrupt hard drives act like. It wouldn't ONLY be the saved games, and it wouldn't be ALL the saved games across every profile. This sounds like a Microsoft messed up when they were updating their Xbox live service on Dec 1st.

I overheatied my xbox360(rod error) so i could open it and when i tried to restore the gamer profile(my xbox was sooo damn hot) it started to download it and then it was in my drive again! man xbox is such a weird console.,,...:)

re: Lost my Gamertag Ok, so recently my 360 has been taking forever to sign into my xbox live/gamer profile, I didn't think much of it but today I get a redlight in the bottom right hand corner of the sync display and an error message E-68. I looked up the code and it's a hard drive error, so I called xbox and they said they would replace it for free but I'm wondering if I'll be able to recover all my saves via xbox live? I mean, if I can recover my gamertag from any xbox why couldn't I recover all my saves when I get my new hard drive? Plus when you recover your profile, like for halo 3, it knows what your online rank is. Please I have dumped too many hours into getting my saves, I don't want to do that sh*t again.

When i tried to recover it back today it just says Xbox Live Sign Up us currently unavailable. I hope that this is just a server problem! I will not be happy if my profile is lost in no mans land. Why do Xbox offer the ability to recover gamertags if it is full of problems! This is the first time it has gone wrong for me, but lots of my friends have had major problems with it!

anyone help me please?? re: Lost my Gamertag My gamertag got corrupted after the console update on December 4th. Called MSFT whose trained monkeys basically asked me the same information over and over again. I was elevated two a level 3 technician - which I think means you need to have basic reading and writing skills - and he told me to be patient and they would get back to me in 7-10 business days. They still haven't gotten back to me and I just called in again and got disconnected. I get that code others have gotten once the recovery bar goes just about halfway.

re: Lost my Gamertag from previous posts i said that i went to a friends house tried to recover my gamertag there-didnt work-played as a guest-got home-gamertag did not work-tried to recover-and did not work....i called msft and heres what they told me: certain servers are down and depending upon the server that ur account uses the server is being updated and gamertags are being corrupted the guy told me to try to recover my gamertag every 2 hours and it is expected that within 24-48 hours the servers should be up and peoples gamertags will be back to normal idk if that will help any of u and im not even sure its gunna work cause i doubt that anything that guy said will work...he prob had no idea wat he was talking bout...but just so u guys could try something to help with the gamertag problems

re: Lost my Gamertag exact same thing happened to me like jbates24. this is what i did, idk if it was just a coincidence, but recovering my gamertag during the day wasn't working out. so early in the morning today around 3am i tried. it didn't recover the first few times but then i figured hey, ill try one more time. and it worked. so maybe if you try early in the morning it will work. just a thought.

So now i try to sign in, OMFG it doesnt work. I repeated the process several times before trying to recover. I start the recovery and go watch a movie. I come back, wiggle the control stick and it says i cant sign into live. I reset my routers, i deleted my profile (while still keeping game saves i might add) and it still doesnt work. re: Lost my Gamertag hey just do what that one guy said if your profile is corrupted, delete your corrupted profile then recover your gamertag, to do this go to, SYSTEM then select MEMORY, then select your Hard Drive then go down to Gamer Profiles there u gonna get a list of all your profiles select the one that says corrupted and just delete it then go back to XBOX LIVE and hit RECOVER MY GAMERTAG and just sign in and within 5 to 10 minutes your gamertag will be back.

I have the same issue with the Corrupt file, i do not want to risk deleting it because i need all my files on there and for my hours and hours of games. And i go to recover my profile and i get hit with the 8007065B:0 message. I think live is down right now but i will try again later but it was doing this before hand. It could have just been preparing for live to go down but either way i will try it tommrow but i am really worrying. SO i looked it up online and well it appears that maybe the credit information changed of which my dad cancceled his credit card so maybe just maybe i have to get my dad to rechange the credit card info which isnt a big deal. If that fails i will go to plan B and that is delete the corrupted file and save all of my stuff and then proceed to recovering the gamertag.

re: Lost my Gamertag i got mine back. u need to call xbox support and tell them the numbers u used to get gold membership with ur credit card whether it is amex,mastercard,...,etc. then the guy will give u ur email address (the one u used fore ur profile). then u have to go reset ur xbox live ID password. there are 2 types of passwords (ur xbox live ID password and the email address password whick are both normally associated to the same email address)

And bang both gamertags had completely diapperred. re: Lost my Gamertag I've had it happen a couple times. Delete the profile only that is corrupted in the memory screen on dashboard, then recover it on the main dashboard screen, all your stuff should be saved and you'll be back to shooting things in the head in <5 minutes.

So i looked them up online and went back to test the first level. Nothing... So i was like wtf whatever imah just play.. and bam. No save on the level i was at. So i looked up my HDD for my profile.. Corrupted. So i just did the Delete profile only >> Restore profile.. It took like idk 10 min maybe for it to fully download or w/e.. but it looks like i'm up and running. His profile showed as corrupt on my 'box and it was only his main profile, his brother's profile and saves worked on my system. He was ticked, needless to say, thinking all his saves were long gone. Turns out his saves work fine back home on his box. However... earlier, said friend was over, and we were using my HD on his box, and his profile from home on a Memory Unit. After playing Left 4 Dead for a while, and everything saving just fine....achievements etc, I find out after popping my HD back into my box...my profile is corrupt. Same problem he had. Now, I did some reasearch and keep getting the same answer everywhere: "recover your gamertag from XBL", problem is...I don't have Live. Am I completely FUBAR'ed?

I woke up the next morning and i turned it on and my xbox was saying "no profiles found" so i went to my hardrive storage info and it says its full but it shows that there is nothing on the hardrive...so i decided to format it and it technically worked. I can create a profiles now and i can play games but...I tried to recover my gamertag but every time i went to recover the account it would start to connect to xbox live and it would stop and a message would appear saying "Game could not start, Please download game again." I tried going to www.xbox.com/support but it says the problem can be fixed by going to Xbox MarketPlace...it's telling me that the problem is that i have to download the game i bought off of marketplace again...WHAT?? re: Lost my Gamertag XBOX support will tell you that it can not be fixed and that you need to create a new gamertag. Keep calling XBOX support and some day you will get someone that can fix it. If not we need to start a class action fight against Microsoft. There should be an easy solution for XBOX support to update the Windows Live ID.
